How to enjoy your Steep Free weekend
10/03/2017 12:00 AM
This weekend, Steep is FREE for ALL! So, whether you’re new to the game or just need to recall how to do tricks for example – this space is for you. Welcome to the Mountains!
First of all, here is the basic controls if you play on:
On PC, you can check and rebind the keys in GAME MENU > Options > Controls > Key Mapping
WHERE WILL YOU RIDE?
In Steep, we have 2 Mountain ranges for you to explore: The Alps and Alaska. We highly recommend you to start in the Alps – as Alaska is way “Steep-er” – but you can easily switch from one to the other, using R1/RB in Mountain View, whenever you want :)
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Whether snowboarding, skiing, wingsuiting or paragliding, there are a variety of ways to experience Steep!
Your main goal will be to complete Challenges and Mountain stories to increase your REPUTATION level.
As you level up, you’ll access the legendary summits of the mountain ranges or receive invitations for prestigious pro events and competitions.
Some spots there you’ll be able to unlock as you progress, while others you’ll need to find… Be sure to scout uncharted areas and use your trusty binoculars. When you see this icon use your binoculars to locate and unlock new Drop Zones and Challenges!
WHAT ABOUT TRICKS?
There are plenty of different tricks you can perform in Steep while skiing or snowboarding – the only limit is your creativity! Check the tutorial video below to feel inspired…
You have 3 ways of scoring in STEEP:
- FREESTYLE points (yellow) are earned by performing jumps and tricks
- FREERIDE points (dark blue) are earned by riding reliefs and crest lines
- EXTREME points (orange) are earned by passing close to obstacles and trees, jumping off cliffs and flying close to the ground
RIDE THE MOUNTAIN THE WAY YOU WANT
You can enjoy the slopes by snowboarding, skiing, wingsuiting, paragliding or even hiking AND you can change sport on the go to create unique ride.
To do so, just STOP your rider by holding the left stick down up until you are completely stopped, and hold R1/RB to open the sport wheel and change sport.
Voilà, we really hope this quick overview of Steep helped – Have fun in our Mountains :)
